Prof. Simona Binetti, director of MIB-SOLAR research center, together with prof. Carlos Meza and Sebastian Dittman, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences – Hochschule Anhalt, is organizing the third edition of SUMMED-PV Summer School on Raw Materials in Photovoltaics, to take place in Dessau Campus of the University of Applied Sciences, 7-11 September 2026, with EIT Raw Materials financial support.
A preliminary list of speakers and specific topics that will be covered during the school is available at this webpage.
SUMMED-PV is a 5-day hands-on training program focused on improving the performance, economic return, and service life of photovoltaic systems and their components. The course examines the entire photovoltaic value chain, showing how raw material selection, equipment design, installation practices, and operation and maintenance influence the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE).
The program combines seminars delivered by researchers, visits to photovoltaic installations, and laboratory sessions using advanced measurement and diagnostic equipment. Participants gain practical experience in fault detection, performance analysis, and reliability assessment.
The training concludes with a Case Study Challenge in which teams analyze real operating conditions, identify factors affecting LCOE, calculate key performance indicators, and propose technical and operational measures to improve the cost effectiveness of solar energy systems.
The course is open to participation by doctoral students, master’s degree students, researchers and professionals in the field. Details on how to proceed with registration can be found at this webpage. The registration fee, which is particularly low, includes accommodation in a hotel in a double room.
The number of participants in the school is limited to 60, so it is preferable to proceed with registration as soon as possible. Registration will close on June 30.
