Prof. Simona Binetti, director of MIB-SOLAR research center, together with prof. Giovanni Spagnuolo, University of Salerno, is organizing the second edition of SUMMEd-PV Summer School on Raw Materials in Photovoltaics, to take place in University of Salerno, 8-12 September 2025, with EIT Raw Materials financial support.
A preliminary list of speakers and specific topics that will be covered during the school is available at this webpage.
In addition to lectures devoted to important aspects concerning the environmental sustainability of circuits and systems used in the realization of photovoltaic systems, the course program devotes significant space, and a hands-on activity, to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). In particular, specific aspects concerning photovoltaic modules and power electronics will be covered by the companies Ampere Transitions, Bitron and Futurasun. Course participants will have the opportunity to use, through their laptops, commercial reference software in the field of LCA, which they will be able to apply, for educational purposes, even after the end of school. The software will also allow them to perform LCA for other systems, including those on which the students participating in the course are working on for their thesis. Knowledge of sustainability issues and approaches to LCA is required in many fields, and the course will provide participating PhD and MSc students with skills that they can rely on even after they receive their respective degrees.
The course is open to participation by doctoral students, master’s degree students, researchers and professionals in the field. Details on how to proceed with registration can be found at this webpage. The registration fee, which is particularly low, includes accommodation in residences on the Fisciano Campus.
The number of participants in the school is limited to 50, so it is preferable to proceed with registration as soon as possible. Registration will close on May 31.
